The opening of the first international office is certainly a significant moment in the history of any company, and no less so for C-Job. The Dutch independent ship design and engineering firm has shown consistent growth in its first 10 years of business, and this next step – the opening of C-Job Nikolayev in Ukraine – is a real milestone. Here, Managing Director of this newly formed subsidiary company, Andrey Zherebetsky, talks about what role the new office will play while pointing out some of the key benefits of working from Ukraine.

What are the main reasons to choose Ukraine for C-Job’s first international office?

Well, historically speaking, Ukraine has a very rich maritime heritage. And the city of Nikolayev, in particular, is the centre of the shipbuilding industry in this region. For example, there are numerous shipyards here, in addition to the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding which has a very respected reputation for maritime engineering. There is a substantial amount of ship design knowledge as well as a very strong shipbuilding philosophy here – it is a very suitable location for C-Job’s first international expansion.


What are the main benefits of the new office for C-Job’s clients?

The financial advantages are obviously important – we can deliver European levels of standards in ship design and engineering at Ukrainian costs – but the answer to this question is more complex than that. The excellent range of skills that we offer is very attractive to clients. For example, depending on their needs, we can deliver engineering packages with a wide range of software – Cadmatic, Siemens NX, Inventor, Intergraph, and Rhinoceros 3D, ANSYS, Siemens Femap and AVEVA – all within the specific requirements of shipyards and ship owners. This attention to the client’s needs and our commitment to quality run parallel to the more obvious cost incentives.


The new office has been operational since September 2017. How many people work there?

We have gathered together a motivated team of 20 full time engineers who will be bringing increased engineering capacity and resources to the C-Job table. We have the ambition to expand the team gradually to around 40 naval architects and mechanical engineers over the next couple of years.


How will operations be coordinated with C-Job’s offices in the Netherlands?

We will have a fully collaborative relationship with C-Job’s three offices in the Netherlands. While this new office is the optimum location to serve the East European and Black Sea maritime markets, the expansion also marks a significant increase in design and engineering service capability for the global maritime market.
